Enjoy Flagstaff Mountain & Summit Nature Center

Admission is free at the Flagstaff Nature Center, sitting snug atop the summit of Flagstaff Mountain. It’s the place to be to learn all about Boulder’s local fauna and flora, the plants, animals, and history that defines the borders of the mountain. Parents and their children will learn through games and activities that both challenge and reward. And volunteers are aplenty to answer any lingering “Whys?” about the way things are.

Flagstaff Mountain is home to a number of hikes that families and hikers will enjoy. While experienced hikers may opt to climb to an altitude of 7,000 feet there are plenty of other trails to relax and enjoy nature from. They’re all worth it. The views are stunning, radiating the tranquility of nature that is sure to stimulate any onlooker’s inner calm.

Visitors can hike Flagstaff Mountain any time of the year, though the most scenic views (for most people) are available spring, summer, and fall. Winter hikers should be prepared with the proper gear to weather icy trails.

While the center, trails, and picnic facilities are free, be aware that parking costs $5.00.
